<NOTICE> DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY <SUBAGY>Federal Energy Regulatory Commission</SUBAGY> <DEPDOC>[Project No. 15385-000]</DEPDOC> <SUBJECT>Verdant Power, Inc.; Notice of Preliminary Permit Application Accepted for Filing and Soliciting Comments, Motions To Intervene, and Competing Applications</SUBJECT> On December 9, 2024, Verdant Power, Inc., filed an application for a preliminary permit, pursuant to section 4(f) of the Federal Power Act (FPA), proposing to study the feasibility of the Long Island Sound Tidal Energy Project to be located in Eastern Long Island Sound near the communities of East Marion and Greenport in Suffolk County, New York. The sole purpose of a preliminary permit, if issued, is to grant the permit holder priority to file a license application during the permit term. A preliminary permit does not authorize the permit holder to perform any land-disturbing activities or otherwise enter upon lands or waters owned by others without the owners' express permission. The proposed project would consist of the following: (1) 20- to 900-kilowatt (kW) bottom-mounted horizontal axis tidal turbine(s) with a maximum diameter of approximately 14 meters ( <E T="03">i.e.,</E> 45.92 feet); (2) a modular foundation substructure (configuration dependent on site characteristics) composed of multiple turbines allowing for removal and maintenance of the turbines with a total capacity of 30 megawatts; (3) a single transmission line connecting the module to a shoreline landing site and then with an overhead connection to an existing substation; and (4) appurtenant facilities.
